A public website and a private website mainly differ in how your guests access the event website.
The public or private setting is defined in your website settings under Configuration > General Settings > Website.
- Public website
A public website can be accessed directly via a URL that you can share with your guests.
> If the green toggle is switched on, your website is public and you have a unique URL that you can share.
The URL is based on the name you enter after evenium.events/.
Example:
https://evenium.events/my-event
You can therefore share this URL freely, and your guests will be able to access the website using this link.
- Private website
A private website cannot be accessed through a single public URL. Each guest receives a unique and secure personalized link.
> If the green toggle is switched off, your website is private, and access is provided through the personalized links sent to your guests.
This link is automatically included in the communications sent to each guest.
The name entered after evenium.events/ is still required, even for a private website. It forms part of the personalized link sent to each guest, while the other characters are automatically generated and differ from one guest to another.
What is the purpose of the name entered after evenium.events/?
This name is also used for the sender email address of your communications.
For example, if you choose my-event, the sender email address will be based on this name:
my-event@email.evenium.com
It is therefore important to choose a short, clear, and easily identifiable name, as it will be used both for your website URL and your sender email address.
